Agency9 (Sweden) has entered into a partnership with the aerial survey company Slagboom en Peeters in The Netherlands, to deliver a geoportal for which users can view its data products, currently “Geo-Oblique” and Orthophoto in one seamless integrated view. Unlike other portals in the market the user can conveniently see an object from all possible angles and use the data view that is best for the application. Over the last few years street-level mobile mapping and reality capturing has quietly become one of the most important geospatial mapping technologies. There are already hundreds of mapping vehicles collecting vast amounts of geospatial data. Pix4D has developed next-generation software that automatically combines raw images captured by lightweight Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to produce accurate measurements and visualisation of the environment. This enables timely, on-demand local 3D mapping. What if images taken by consumer-grade cameras could be combined to compute accurate 3D environments? A laser scanning system is to improve safety of iron ore extraction in South Africa. The Riegl laser scanner forms an integral part of a Waste Spreader Positioning System (WSPS) developed by Stone Three Venture Technology in partnership with Reutech Mining. Successful 3D Laser Mapping Lidar Workshop

The first event in a series of educational workshops has been hailed as a success by organisers 3D Laser Mapping (UK). Attracting more than 50 practitioners and professionals from public sector organisations and commercial companies, the workshop took place on 28 March 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mapping and 3D Modelling in Medina

The city of Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is realising base maps and 3D modelling. In order to provide the necessary services, Blom CGR, the Italian subsidiary of Blom ASA, has partnered with Unicom from Saudi Arabia to secure this contract with the Development Commission of Medina (DCOM).     Blom's capture technologies will produce accurate and high-resolution data; the deliverables consist of Lidar, aerial photo and BlomOBLIQUE. Fugro Buys 3D Mapping Solutions Company

Fugro has completed the acquisition of Roames Asset Services (Roames), based in Brisbane, Australia, from Ergon Energy (Ergon). Roames (previously a services unit within Ergon) specialises in high-resolution mapping services and solutions for the electricity distribution sector. Roames uses airborne sensors to generate accurate 3D models of electric power transmission networks and surrounding vegetation. The data collected through Lidar and digital imagery are processed in a highly automated way. This enables electric utility companies to take preventative measures to cost-effectively review and maintain their infrastructure and to manage vegetation growth.  The current annual revenue of Roames is around EUR7 million....
