Great Wall of China 3D Modelling Project

Acute3D's Smart3DCapture solution has been chosen for the 3D automatic reconstruction part of the 'Great Wall of China in 3D' modelling project. The project was officially launched on 16 September 2014. It will be supervised by China's Ministry of Culture and State Administration of Cultural Heritage and part-funded by UNESCO. The goal of this project is to protect, document and promote the Great Wall of China to the world. World Bank and RMSI Partner in Geospatial Risk Modelling

Natural disasters such as a hurricane in Florida have less short and long-term effect on local population and regional economies when compared to a similar disaster in Asia. The World Bank recognised this fact, with the root cause being a frequent lack of catastrophic insurance, compounded by post-disaster funding. OGC Calls for Comments on Open Modelling Interface Standard

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and the OpenMI Association (OA) have announced a call for public comment on the Open Modelling Interface Version 2 (OpenMI) and its accompanying reference manual. This standard defines a means by which independently developed computer models of environmental processes, or indeed any processes, can exchange data as they run and hence facilitates the modelling of interacting processes. 3D Modelling of a Gold Mine Using Laser Scanning

A gold mine in China’s Shandong Province is the country’s first underground mine to use 3D laser scanning. During a one-year project, 20km of major tunnels were scanned and the point clouds processed.
