Safe Software Support for Oracle Database 11g

Safe Software (Canada) has plans to support Oracle Database 11g and Oracle Spatial 11g . Initial support will be for the enhanced GeoRaster capabilities of Oracle Spatial 11g, followed by support for Oracle's new 3D spatial type. FME is a spatial ETL platform that allows organisations to translate, transform, integrate and distribute spatial data from/to over 190 CAD, GIS, raster and database formats. Today, Oracle customers can use FME to read and write vector data to an Oracle Spatial database. Users can also write raster data to Oracle Spatial's GeoRaster data type using the newly released FME 2007.   With... (read more)

SCALGO Hydrology 1.2

SCALGO has released version 1.2 of the software package SCALGO Hydrology, which can be used to perform basic hydrological modelling on massive raster terrain models (containing tens of billions of cells) on a normal desktop computer. The new version includes a number of new features that make it easier to perform large-area hydrological analysis. The added features include handling of massive collections of polygon data, for example, which allow for easy and efficient 'burning' of a large number of features (such as buildings, ridges and culverts) that are important for hydrological modelling into a large-area terrain model. The release also includes functionality that allows for... (read more)

Automatic Projection Data Recovery

With the release of Blue Marble Desktop 2.0 Blue Marble Geographics introduced functionality for automatic projection recovery for both raster and vector data. Whether it is coordinate, vector, or raster data the Blue Marble Desktop allows users to address data conversion challenges in the same application interface with conversion and transformation tools.     The Projection Recovery Tool automates the process of determining the original projection information associated with mapping data when that information is lost and no longer associated with the data.  Through a sort of reverse interpolation via the GeoCalc coordinate system engine, the application determines the most...
