Applanix Service Pack 1 for POSPac 4.2

Applanix (Canada) has released Service Pack 1 for its POSPac 4.2 post-processing software, aimed at airborne and land-based POS users operating a variety of sensors such as aerial cameras, LiDAR, Synthetic Aperture Radar, and vehicle-mounted terrestrial scanners. In addition to adding support for the latest release of POS AV Firmware V 3.1, a number of features have been incorporated. Launch Applanix POS LV 200

Applanix (Canada) has launched its POS LV 200 system (Position and Orientation System for Land Vehicles). The system is intended for upgrading survey vehicles that already incorporate GPS and DMI sensors (Distance Measurement Indicator). It is designed for easy integration with existing Trimble GPS equipment and engineered for a variety of land vehicle applications such as road profiling, pavement analysis, mobile mapping and infrastructure asset management. Trimble S6 Total Station

Trimble (CA, USA) has introduced its S6 Total Station, an advanced surveying instrument based on a new design platform. The S6 will be available in three configurations: Servo, Autolock and Robotic. All components of the system can be upgraded. The cable-free system includes MagDrive servos and angle sensors, SurePoint accuracy assurance, and MultiTrack prism tracking. The MagDrive technology silently turns the instrument at more than 100 degrees per second to provide smooth control for precision pointing. Vexcel VP Mapping and Photogrammetry

Vexcel Corporation (CO, USA) has announced that Dr William B. Gail, formerly director at Ball Aerospace, has joined Vexcel as vice-president of Mapping and Photogrammetric Solutions. He will lead the marketing and support for the UltraCam digital aerial camera and the UltraMap server. BAE Systems Releases SOCET SET v5.2

BAE Systems (CA, USA) has released version 5.2 of its SOCET SET digital photogrammetric software application. The new version comprises a module for 3D-feature collection in ESRI’s ArcMap environment. In addition, the new VCT (Visual Coverage Tool) batch module enables automated image import, triangulation, DTM extraction, orthorectification and mosaicing. Other enhancements include new matching algorithms within the Automated Point Measurement tool. GMES Responds to Darfur Crisis

The Global Monitoring for the Environment and Security initiative (GMES) is setting up a number of services. Humanitarian aid is recognised as one of the main areas where GMES can provide services using satellite technology that answer real users’ needs. Fugro Surveys 100,000km with FLI-MAP

In the last quarter of 2004, Fugro (The Netherlands) completed the survey of more than 100,000 kilometres using their helicopter-based laser altimetry system FLI-MAP. The 100,000th kilometre was surveyed for Estereofoto (Portugal). Since 1999, the two companies have jointly executed numerous projects in Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic with, in total, 6,000 survey kilometres. FLI-MAP was developed by Fugro and integrates LiDAR, with photo and video sensors and GPS to obtain highly accurate topographic information of corridors.
