Teledyne Optech Completes Leadership Transition

Teledyne Optech has completed its transition in leadership. Michel Stanier now serves as chief operating officer of the company. Founded in 1974 by Dr Allan Carswell, Teledyne Optech is a leader in advanced laser-based survey and digital imaging instrumentation. Teledyne Technologies first acquired shares in the parent company of Optech in March 2011, and Teledyne purchased the remaining shares in April 2015. Teledyne Technologies Acquires Remaining Optech Shares

Teledyne Technologies, through its Teledyne DALSA subsidiary, now fully owns Optech after acquiring the remaining shares. The company will be adopting the name Teledyne Optech, joining the Optech and Teledyne brands together. Teledyne has been the majority owner of Optech for the past three years so 100% ownership will not result in any significant operational changes for the organisation. Teledyne Optech Introduces UAV-Lidar Solution

The Optech CL-90 is the first in a new family of compact Lidar (CL) products designed specifically for the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV or ‘drone’) market drawing on Teledyne Optech’s 45-year Lidar heritage. Teledyne Optech Lidar Enables Discovery of Extensive Mayan Ruins

Teledyne Optech’s Titan sensor was used by the University of Houston’s National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM), USA, to reveal extensive Mayan ruins in Guatemala. Lidar technology was able to identify hundreds of previously unknown structures, including raised highways and complex irrigation and terracing systems. Teledyne Optech Lidar Launched in OSIRIS-REx Asteroid Mission

The OSIRIS-REx Laser Altimeter (OLA) was launched successfully from Cape Canaveral, USA, on Thursday 8 September. OLA was designed by scientists and engineers from Teledyne Optech and built by MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA). It had been installed and tested aboard the OSIRIS-REx (Origins-Spectral Interpretation-Resource Identification-Security-Regolith Explorer) spacecraft. OSIRIS-Rex will reach the asteroid Bennu by 2018.
