Wingtra Drone Sets New Benchmark in Photogrammetry

With the launch of the WingtraOne post-processed kinematic (PPK) drone, the Swiss manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or ‘drones’) Wingtra aims to set a new benchmark in large-scale surveying and mapping applications. As the result of Wingtra’s collaboration with its industry-leading partners – photogrammetry software provider Pix4D, and the GNSS board and PPK provider Septentrio – WingtraOne PPK is now able to deliver orthomosaic maps and 3D models with an absolute accuracy down to 1cm. With the latest upgrade, the WingtraOne PPK drone can offer something that has never been seen before in drone photogrammetry: broad coverage and high... (read more)

Wingtra and PCI Geomatics Enter into Drone Maps Partnership

Wingtra and PCI Geomatics are teaming up to offer flexible software solutions, easier ground control for repeated surveys and one-to-one resolution – also known as DSM true ortho – image processing with the WingtraOne-Geomatica bundle. “In order to produce high-quality products, we generate digital surface models (DSMs) at one-to-one resolution,” said Kevin Jones, executive director of marketing at PCI Geomatics. “This means if you are producing one-centimetre imagery captured by the WingtraOne UAV, you can produce one-centimetre DSMs using Geomatica.” For more than 35 years, PCI Geomatics has been providing academics, governments and commercial enterprises with mapping solutions for aerial... Setting a New Standard in UAV Precision Mapping

Interview with Maximilian Boosfeld, CEO, Wingtra
Switzerland-based start-up Wingtra has developed a vertical-take-off-and-landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV or ‘drone’) that rises straight up, tilts and flies off like an aeroplane. The WingtraOne is a broad-coverage drone that is used particularly in the surveying, construction and precision agriculture industries and which can capture images in photogrammetric resolution. Offering high-precision mapping in combination with the VTOL and post-processed kinematic (PPK) capabilities, the manufacturer believes it has a strong advantage over the other aerial surveying solutions currently on the market. 'GIM International' decided to talk to Maximilian Boosfeld, co-founder and CEO of Wingtra, to see where the Swiss... (read more)

How High-altitude Propellers Allow Mapping of Large Areas with High Accuracy

Wingtra is introducing high-altitude propellers which enable a professional mapping drone to capture data more than 2,500m (8200ft) above mean sea level (AMSL) with unprecedented accuracy and coverage. Customers in South America, China, Central Europe and other regions with high altitudes can now map high terrain at down to 1cm ground sample distance (GSD). Specifically, the new high-altitude propellers and supporting software allow take-off at altitudes of up to 4,800m (15,700ft) AMSL and flight at altitudes of up to 5,000m (16,400ft) AMSL. “It’s a game-changer for our customers to fly and gather data on terrain that has so far been...
