Environmental Education for Primary Schools
The Ecosystems Atlas of South America and Antarctica is an educational programme for primary-school pupils. Software is distributed free to South American institutions that develop educational activities relating to the environment. The project is the result of successful collaboration between the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and Vale do Parai­ba University, supported by the Bradesco, Vitae and Atech foundations. Solar Atlas of Berlin

Airborne Lidar in Renewable Energy Applications
Airborne Lidar has yet to become as ubiquitous as aerial imagery for GIS applications. But one important use has recently been identified. An online atlas of potential solar energy yield was created for the city of Berlin by measuring parameters such as roof area and slope, taking into account shadowing from vertical objects such as chimneys and masts. Blom/Tele Atlas Agreement

Geographic information provider Blom ASA (Norway) and digital maps and dynamic content provider Tele Atlas have announced a five year agreement focused on speeding up the development of 3D city maps and elevation models and on creating imagery products for personal and in car navigation, Internet and mobile solutions users. Garmin Bid for Tele Atlas

Garmin Ltd. has announced a €2.3 billion ($3.3 billion) offer for Tele Atlas. Tomtom earlier made an offer of €2 billion for the company in July. Garmin has notified the supervisory and managing boards of Tele Atlas of its intention to make a public offer for all the outstanding shares of Tele Atlas N.V. on a fully diluted basis at an indicative offer price of €24.50 in cash per share. Tele Atlas (The Netherlands) and GlobeXplorer (CA, USA) have signed a reseller agreement that enables Tele Atlas partners and customers to enhance the richness of their digital map-based applications by incorporating high- resolution aerial and satellite imagery into their solutions. MiTAC Extends Relationship with Tele Atlas

Tele Atlas (Netherlands) and MiTAC International (Taiwan) have announced that MiTAC navigation solution subsidiaries Mio and Navman have extended their agreements to use Tele Atlas digital maps and content for each brand's complete range of personal navigation devices and products. Tele Atlas Adds Full Coverage China

Tele Atlas (The Netherlands) has signed a license and distribution agreement with Beijing Changdi Youhao Mapping Technologies Co., Ltd., an affiliate of China-based Ritu Information Systems Inc. The agreement gives Tele Atlas Asia- Pacific full map coverage of 337 Chinese cities, complete with censor codes. Tele Atlas Joint Venture in Indonesia

Tele Atlas NV (The Netherlands) has opened an Indonesian joint venture, PT Tele Atlas Indonesia. Formed as a business partnership between Tele Atlas and Indonesian map solutions provider PT Navindo Technologies, the new company will focus on delivering a highly accurate digital map database of Indonesia and on in-country marketing and sales activities. PT Tele Atlas Indonesia will initially focus on enhancing its map database of core population centres, including Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya, and is expected to deliver map products starting in early 2007. TomTom Plans Bid for Tele Atlas

TomTom NV intends to make a cash offer of €21.25 per ordinary share for Tele Atlas NV. The Offer Price represents a 32% premium over Tele Atlas' average closing share price for the three months prior to 20 July 2007.
