Tourism 3D Spatial Analysis

MFB-Geoconsulting has been selected to use several ERDAS solutions in a research project to study the impact of tourism on the alpine environment. The project is entitled 'ProMeRe - Processes and Methods for Interdisciplinary and Collaborative Spatial Analysis and Development.' Indoor Spatial Analysis Increases Retail Sales

Esri has announced a partnership with GISinc to analyse customer behaviour to help retailers increase sales. The spatial analytics technology specialist will integrate its spatial analytics platform with GISinc's indoor mapping capabilities to analyse data collected by sensor-enabled overhead smart lighting systems and from opt-in mobile data from customers' smartphones. The solution will enable retailers to track behaviours, using information including customer locations inside the store and items selected for purchase. Watershed Analysis

SimActive‘s Correlator3D has been purchased by the Quebec Department of Agriculture (Canada). SimActive's software will be primarily used for watershed analysis from imagery. Correlator3D is providing the Department of Agriculture a solution for generating terrain profiles, taking advantage of its existing database of aerial images, providing a much larger return on investment.   The ability to quickly and easily generate digital surface models (DSM) will allow the Department of Agriculture to significantly reduce costs of watershed analysis compared to traditional survey methods or LiDAR data.   (read more)

ESRI has launched an interactive Web site, Spatial Roundtable, where geographic information system (GIS) industry thought leaders share their opinions about business and organisational challenges in the geospatial community. With the expanding use of spatial information comes a growing need to interchange this information. Parallel runs the development of spatial databases serving multiple applications. 1Spatial, a UK-based global specialist in spatial big data management, has launched 1Edit at the Geospatial World Forum in Rotterdam, a touchscreen-compatible solution for fast and intuitive data-editing in the field or office. Trialled by Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi), 1Edit incorporates a touchscreen for capture and editing of real-world data, enabling data collection in the field via touchscreen, stylus and survey devices. Deeper Than Surface Analysis

Exprodat has recently announced the design and release of a new course: Using GIS for Surface Analysis in E&P.
