Web-mapping Demonstrator

British developer of geographic information systems (GIS) software, Cadcorp, has provided unrestricted access to a hosted demonstration version of its popular web-mapping application, Web Map Layers. Prospective users in public and private sector organisations can now judge for themselves how well the application meets their particular requirements for spatial data sharing, by typing the URL of the demonstrator web site into their web browser. Cadcorp has populated the demonstrator with a number of layers of background mapping including OS OpenData for the whole of England, Scotland and Wales, and OS MasterMap data for the major conurbations. Web Mapping for Education

The latest version of the EDINA Digimap service has gone live. The service is a co-operation of Cadcorp and the EDINA National Data Centre. Launched in 2000, the EDINA Digimap service specialises in the delivery of a number of geographical data resources over the Internet to over 150 academic institutions. National digital map data ranging from Ordnance Survey (OS) products to geology, marine and historical maps can be accessed by staff and students free at point of use. ESRI announces that its Web mapping APIs are available at no cost to users who are building applications for use in internal and noncommercial environments. ArcGIS Web mapping APIs have always been free for licensed ArcGIS Server users. Cadcorp, UK, has unveiled during AGI GeoCommunity 2011 an addition to the Cadcorp Spatial Information System (SIS) product family: Web Map Layers. This is an off-the-shelf but extensible web mapping product designed for map viewing and interrogation. Web Mapping Site Against Crime

The Washington College Geographic Information System (GIS) Programme recently launched a new statewide web-GIS application called the Maryland Offender Management System (MOMS) for use by Maryland Division of Parole and Probation (DPP) case officers and Maryland law enforcement and criminal justice agencies. Poland Implements Web Mapping Solution

The Gdansk administrative region of the Poland National Forestry Service has added to its website a public access web mapping solution developed from the TatukGIS Internet Server product. The web mapping solution is designed to help the general public better utilise Forest Service lands for recreational activities.
