FIG Annual Review

TheFIG Annual Review June 2006-December 2007is out now, providing an overview of the activities and achievements of the Federation since the congress in Munich, Germany, held in October 2006.

Apart from reports on the FIG events in Munich, the Working Week in Hong Kong and the Regional Conference in Costa Rica in 2007, the review highlights the key points of the Working Plan 2007-2010, and activ­ities including those of FIG Commissions and members’ visits. The increasing co-operation as an NGO with the United Nations and the World Bank is also reported upon, as well as the work of permanent FIG institutions such as the OICRF, with its library on cadastre and land management. The impressive membership list serves to underline the fact that work carried out by FIG concerns the global community of surveyors. Commission chairs in post since the Munich congress, and a financial report are also presented. And, last but not least, there is an ­invitation to participate in the Working Week in Stockholm to be held from 14th to 19th June in Sweden - the key FIG event of 2008.

Elections 

The FIG General Assembly will elect two vice-presidents to FIG Council, at its meeting taking place in Stockholm from 14th and 19th June 2008. At the same time, elections will be held for chairs-elect of the technical commissions. The Council has received the following nominations for the two open posts of vice-president: David Doyle, USA; Mr Iain Greenway, United Kingdom; Mr Daniel Roberge, Canada and Mr Teo CheeHai, Malaysia.

The Council has also taken action to find candidates for the chairmanship-elect of Commissions 8 and 10, respect­ively, and will inform member associations as soon as further information becomes available.
