Robotic Total Station for Construction Industry

Topcon Positioning Systems has launched a new series of robotic total stations specifically designed and configured for the construction market. The new instruments are developed for applications such as stakeout and as a key component of a Local Positioning System, which is used for 3D machine control.

This auto-tracking total station series combines the latest in tracking, motorised turning, angle accuracy and software technology to set a new industry standard, according to Scott Langbein, Topcons’s director of product marketing.

The PS-AS has a strong prism-tracking ability and the fastest reacquisition time in the industry, Langbein said. Tracking faster with high accuracy measurements equates to savings of time and money on every job, he added.

Top features include TSshield, Topcon’s security and maintenance technology, PowerTrac technology to increase prism tracking power and a fast and powerful EDM, Langbein continued. Additionally, the new series includes Topcon’s exclusive LongLink communications technology, advanced angle accuracy and a water resistant IP65 design.

Data collector software options include Topcon’s Pocket3D or MAGNET Field Site. The PS-AS series is available in 1 and 3 arc second interval versions.  The standard kit includes two batteries, a dual-tray battery charger, USB flash drive, and accessories.
