National Showcaves of Wales Mapped with Handheld Laser Scanner
Students and staff from the University of South Wales have mapped in detail for the first time the spectacular underground cave system Dan-yr-Ogof or National Showcaves of Wales. Using a ZEB1 handheld laser scanner from 3D Laser Mapping the group was able to capture millions of highly accurate measurements. From these point cloud, highly detailed 3D models have been created showing some of the cave systemís most intricate detail. These include the thousands of delicate stalactites which are a highlight of the popular tourist attraction the Cathedral Cave. »»
ICC 2015 Call for Abstracts
The 27th International Cartographic Conference will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 23 to 28 August 2015. This conference takes place for the first time in Brazil and only for the second time in South America. A call for abstracts has now been issued by the organisation. »»
AfricaGEO 2014: Inspring Geomatics Meeting Place   24/07/2014
The AfricaGEO Conference, held in Cape Town from 1 to 3 July 2014, has been a successful and inspiring geomatics event. Over 610 delegates from 28 countries attended the function, which featured 180 exhibitors and saw over 90 papers being presented. The participation in the presentations and the interaction amongst delegates was considerable, and often led to some interesting and thought provoking debates. »»

European Space Imaging can now process 40cm imagery from WorldView satellites at their local Direct Access Facility (DAF) based near Munich. Imagery at 40cm is available from archive data or for new tasking orders from the WorldView constellation. »»
