Esri Press was honoured with the prestigious AAG Publication Award at the Association of American Geographers Annual Meeting on 12 April. Past recipients include the University of Chicago Press and Rand McNally and Company. The AAG newsletter stated this AAG Publication Award is conferred on Esri in recognition of exceptional and outstanding contributions to geography through a vigorous and prolific publication programme. »»

RIEGL LIDAR 2015 to Take Place in Hong Kong and Guangzhou   17/04/2014
After the successful edition of RIEGL LIDAR 2013, which took place in Vienna, Austria, RIEGL has announced its next International User Conference, RIEGL LIDAR 2015, to be held in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China. The international conference in Hong Kong, with English as the primary language, will be held from 5 to 7 May 2015. The conference in Guangzhou, with Mandarin and English as the main languages, will be held on 7 and 8 May. »»

3D model of a real forest from airborne Lidar

The terrain was prepared from aerial ortho-image of 30 cm resolution. Lidar derived Canopy Height Model was worked at 15 cm resolution. For keeping the uniformity with Lidar derived layers, the ortho-image was used at 15 cm pixel size.
