Development of Geodetic Network in Kosovo

The base geodetic network of Kosovo which was established in 1925 serves geodetic, cadastral, and engineering purposes. During the last war when its multidimensional damage became obvious, the Kosovo Cadastral Agency started a campaign for the development of the referent network in 2000. The new network’s name is KOSOVOREF01 and it is based on the EUREF network.

There are 32 first order and 397 second order network points on the territory of Kosovo. On the average there are 15 second order points in one municipality. The creation of the third order network is made necessary by the development of the cadastre. The new generation network is planed and developed on the territory of the Municipality of Kaçanik in the southern part of Kosovo. Here 290 third order points are being placed and their coordinates determined by the Municipal Cadastral Office’s local team supported by Kosovo Cadastral Agency and with the help of Swiss professionals. The measurements are done with GPS 530 and GPS 500 and Leica is the producer of the total station.
