GPS+GLONASS Capability for NovAtel Receivers

NovAtel’s new line of OEMV GPS receivers will be capable of tracking satellites from the GLONASS constellation. Initial releases of the OEMV-2 and OEMV-3 models are expected to be available to customers by the end of March and will include dual-frequency GLONASS measurements as an option. Future releases will include full position and RTK options as well as a GLONASS enabled, single-frequency OEMV-1 model. L1/L2 GLONASS Simulation System

Spirent Communications (UK) has announced the addition of GLONASS L2 test capability to its new GSS8000 simulation system which already supports GLONASS L1 simulation. This establishes the GSS8000 as the industry's first simulation system to support GLONASS L1 and L2 commercial signals. Russia Negotiates Joint Use of Glonass

Russia is negotiating with other countries on the possible joint use of Russia's global positioning satellite system Glonass, Anatoly Perminov, the head of the Russian Space Agency said. "We are in active talks with India, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other countries on the joint use of the Glonass space system." Three New Glonass Satellites in Orbit

Russia has successfully orbited three Glonass navigation satellites at 10:42 p.m. Moscow time (7:42 p.m. GMT) on 25th December 2007. The three satellites were launched from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan to join the existing satellite constellation, which comprises 15 operational satellites. Glonass Available to Russian Civilians January 2007

Russia's global satellite navigation system will become available to civilians in the country next year, the Russian Defense Minister announced. Mr. Sergei Ivanov said Russia's Global Navigation Satellite System, known as Glonass, will be offered to commercial customers worldwide in 2009. Glonass is the equivalent of the U.S. Global Positioning System, or GPS. New GLONASS Signal Tracking Capability for Topcon

Topcon Positioning Group has announced its NET-G5 GNSS reference receiver, capable of tracking a new signal from the GLONASS constellation. The GLONASS-M 55 satellite was launched in June 2014 and is equipped with the experimental payload capable of transmitting signals in the L3 frequency band. Russia's GLONASS satellite navigation system has been upgraded to a precision of up to 5 metres after the successful launch of the 24th GLONASS satellite on 3rd October 2011. Russia Loses Three GLONASS Satellites as Rocket Explodes

A Proton-M rocket carrying 3 GLONASS satellites exploded shortly after lift-off on 2 July. Just seconds after the launch, a dramatic failure resulted in a huge impact at the spaceport. The rocket suddenly changed flight direction, started falling and blew up in the Baikonur spaceport territory. It then flew horizontally before plummeting back to Earth, with engines still firing. The payload fairing and upper part of the rocket collapsed and disintegrated before the Proton crashed back to the pad complex.
