GIM International Summit Programme nears Completion: Joyeeta Gupta Added to Speakers

With the addition of Joyeeta Gupta, UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, to the speakers’ list, the programme for the GIM International Summit has moved another step nearer to completion. The themes for the workshops are also increasingly taking shape. Confirmed topics for the workshop sessions include: climate change, integration for geo-ICT, urban planning, and food security & agriculture.

Joyeeta Gupta is based in The Netherlands as a professor of climate change law and policy at VU University Amsterdam and of water law and policy at the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in Delft. Her expertise is in the area of environmental law and politics. She is editor-in-chief of International Environmental Agreements: Politics, Law and Economics. Gupta was lead author in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore, and of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment.

The GIM International Summit will take place from 10-12 February 2016 at the NH Barbizon Palace Hotel in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The speakers’ line-up already includes Hans Rosling, Ed Parsons, Daniel Steudler, Pier Vellinga, Morten Jerven, Vanessa Watson and Geert Bouckaert.

Organised by GIM International, the world’s leading global magazine on geomatics, the Summit will be focused on the overarching theme of ‘Seeking Space for Future Development’, encompassing the main topics of Water, Food Security and Social Justice. By approaching these topics ‘from the inside, looking out’ rather than merely presenting insiders’ perspectives, the GIM International Summit is expected to be a future-oriented, forward-looking, explorative and sometimes even provocative event.
