Cartography brings up associations of tradition, libraries filled with maps serving as artifacts, but Georg Gartner, president of the International Cartography Association since last year, wants to take cartography further. Gartner holds a modern look on one of the oldest fields under the umbrella of geo domains. To make sure cartography develop furthers in the future, he advocates the concept of ‘modern cartography’.
