Alcatel and Boeing in GNSS

Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (MO, USA) has awarded a study contract to Alcatel (France) within the framework of the US Air Force's GPS III System Preliminary Definition phase. This contract concretises discussions between Boeing and Alcatel Space to develop co-operation in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). This also represents the first contractual tie for GPS III between the European Union and United States industry leaders in Satellite Navigation, and materialises the EU-US high-level agreement signed in June 2004. Under this contract Alcatel Space will support definition of the architecture of GPS III global integrity, compatibility and interoperability with the Galileo European system. Boeing supports the Alcatel-Finmeccanica consortium Eurely, short-listed by the Galileo Joint Undertaking for launching the Galileo programme and selecting its concessionaire.
