The highly anticipated conference at Intergeo 2023 is set to bring together the global geospatial community from 10-12 October at the prestigious Messe Berlin exhibition grounds. Notably, this year’s event will be held at the impressive new Hub27 venue located under the iconic Berlin radio tower. Geospatial enthusiasts and professionals will gather to exchange insights and explore the latest advancements in geodesy, geoinformation and land management.

Under the theme ‘Inspiration for a smarter world’, the Intergeo Conference will delve into current and forward-looking subjects that define the future of geoinformation, geodesy and land management. In an era where geoinformation’s significance has surged, particularly in domains such as earth observation, urban planning, disaster readiness, environmental conservation and energy efficiency, the event aims to emphasize the central role of spatial data in addressing global challenges such as climate change, urbanization and resource security.

Keynotes – Tuesday 10 October: Geography and GIS – a platform for sustainability
Renowned speaker Jack Dangermond, founder & CEO of Esri, will explore the pivotal role that the geospatial community plays in gaining insights into our planet, monitoring ecosystems in real time and comprehending the long-term impacts of human activities. With a shared mission to achieve a sustainable future, the geospatial community stands at the forefront of crucial work for the betterment of humanity.

Keynotes – Tuesday 10 October: Trust. Connect. Transform. Unlocking the power of geospatial data
Scott Crozier, vice president Survey & Mapping at Trimble, will address a pressing challenge faced by the industry: harnessing the immense troves of data by integrating AI and automating processes. The cloud’s role in democratizing data, connecting workflows and unlocking geospatial data’s transformative potential will be explored.

Highlight topic: Earth observation – Tuesday 10 October: The power of Earth observation to understand global challenges
Distinguished panelists, including Juliette Lambin from ESA’s Earth Observation Directorate, Elisabeth Hamdouch from the European Commission and Dr Anna Christmann, federal government coordinator for aerospace and BMWK commissioner for digital economy and start-ups, will gather in Room Beta 8+9 from 12:00 to 13:00 to discuss how Earth observation offers insights into addressing global challenges.

Highlight topic: BIM – Wednesday 11 October: Panel discussion on the importance of BIM in Germany

A critical discourse on the significance of building information modelling (BIM) in Germany will take place in Room 6+7 from 09:30 to 10:30. The panel will feature esteemed participants, including Dr Heinrich Bökamp, who serves as president of the Federal Chamber of Engineers, and Thomas Janka, customer experience manager at Trimble Structures. They will provide diverse perspectives on BIM’s role in the industry, and additional viewpoints will be presented by representatives from the political and professional spheres.
