EarthMap Solutions Launched

EarthMap Solutions, LLC (CO, USA) is launched to develop, sell and deliver cost-effective, innovative and accurate information products that bring new applications to customers using remote sensing imagery to make critical land management decisions.
Initially formed in late 2004 as a spinoff of DigitalGlobe’s agriculture business, EarthMap Solutions (EMS) has exclusive intellectual rights to the highly regarded AgroWatch suite of information products. EMS also has exclusive ownership of AgSense proprietary technology and intellectual property information systems developed over eight years by RESOURCE21, LLC, a satellite and information company formerly owned by Boeing, Farmland Industries, BAE Systems and ITD.
EMS focuses its business on the agricultural, environmental and forestry markets that use imagery data to identify and benchmark vegetative change. The company offers customers a unique solution to land management challenges by acquiring data from a constellation of orbiting satellites and aircraft, and delivering information in map form, in near real-time. EMS’s aggressive delivery capabilities include a 48-hour turnaround and online access, allowing decision-makers to immediately act upon critical information.
To produce its land maps, EMS can also draw upon its extensive US$ 8.8 million Image Library that covers whole scenes of data comprising 2.9 million square miles over four continents. The Image Library will grow by an additional estimated 3 million square miles in 2005. This archive enables customers to compare current information maps with those from past years to identify and quantify change. For example, environmentalists can measure decreases in wetlands; growers and producers can determine improvements in crop production and foresters are able to ascertain forest changes.
