GIS for Sustainable Aquaculture Development in Kuwait

The SuperGIS Mapping Software 3 has been employed by Kuwait's Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAF) to establish the management mechanism to improve fishery management and foster sustainable aquaculture development in the country.

Seafood farming, also known as aquaculture, is one of the main food resources on Earth. With the gradually decreasing quantities in wild fisheries over the past years, aquaculture has become the newest and major growing sector of agriculture. In order to promote environmentally safe and sustainable aquaculture in Kuwait, PAAF establishes a dynamic geodatabase of aquaculture and the data update mechanism to facilitate data integration and utilisation of marine resources.

By employing SuperGIS 3D Analyst 3, PAAF can visualise and analyse surface change and create perspective drawings for efficient aquaculture planning. SuperGIS Biodiversity Analyst 3 helps perform marine environment and ecology analysis to support marine conservation and aquaculture resource management. Besides, SuperGIS Server 3 enables the administrators to update, maintain, and distribute data to perform real-time and advanced analysis for better decision-making.

To continually expand the GIS market in Kuwait, SuperGeo plans to provide the product trainings with the local exclusive reseller IIES (International Integrated Environmental Services Ltd.) next year, in order to equip users with the abilities of using SuperGIS software to solve spatial problems in different applications.
