GradeSmart 3D V 5.2 and DigSmart 3D V2.0

Leica Geosystems (Switzerland) announced the release of Leica GradeSmart 3D (V5.2), a smart machine automation dozer and grader solution for the construction industry, and the DigSmart 3D V.2.2, a smart machine guidance solution for excavators used in the construction market.

The Leica GradeSmart 3D V5.2 (formally Leica GradeStar) includes new features and improvements designed to enhance speed of operation, support and usability, a.o by streamlining the data transformation process. This is achieved with the introduction of the Leica SiteSmart software range, and Leica SiteSmart – Translator, which is the support of 1200 series data. Simple jobs prepared on a Total Station or GPS1200 can be imported directly by Leica SiteSmart – Translator and incorporated into Leica GradeSmart 3D.

DigSmart 3D V2.0
Leica DigSmart 3D V.2.0 (formally Digger 3D) utilises a digital design file of the site and advanced dual GNSS technology to accurately guide the operator where to dig, and how much. Over-excavation is reduced, as is layout, stakes and stringlines. Leica DigSmart 3D puts the plan on the machine, allowing operators to be self-directing.

A number of Leica SmartTools are integrated. Firstly, the Intelligent TrenchTool mode of operation makes digging trenches faster. Secondly, the operator can work from a GPS elevation reference without an electronic design for simple tasks using RampTool. Thirdly, the system works in ‘dual slope’ environments using GNSS data to correct for angle of operation with SlopeTool.

Simple jobs can be prepared on a Total Station or Leica GPS1200 to be used directly by Leica DigSmart 3D, as the software works with Leica DBX format.

The Version 2 release also sees the introduction of the new Leica SiteSmart – Translator which helps prepare data for Leica Geosystems Machine Automation 3D solutions by converting data from other formats into DBX.
