Graticule 2005

The last quarter century has seen a stupendous development in the field of global positioning technology and today it is almost a taken for granted service by a global positional data user-base. The American, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Russian, Global Navigational Satellite System (GLONASS) were originally envisaged as purely defence endeavours. Reaching far beyond military application, GPS /GLONASS satellites are reliable providers of timing, positional and navigational and information for uses as varied as wildlife monitoring, earthquake research, town planning, cadastral mapping, and precision farming and fishing. This, Positioning Technology, is today being applied and used by more people in more ways than what the original designers could have ever envisioned.

Aimed at providing a platform for discussion and deliberation on Technology, Applications and policy issues related to positioning technology, 'Graticule 2005' is the First Annual International Conference on Surveying, Positioning and Locational Intelligence, from 3rd – 4th October 2005 at New Delhi, India.

Abstracts can be submitted before 31st July 2005 through e-mail at shivani.lai@gisdevelopment.net.
