Hanseatic city of Deventer to welcome FIG Commissions 2 and 7

Geospatial professionals and land administration experts are invited to take part in the combined FIG C7/C2 Annual Meeting in the historic Hanseatic city of Deventer, the Netherlands. The gathering will be proudly hosted by the Netherlands Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency (Kadaster) and ITC, University of Twente, from 2-4 October 2023.

The Netherlands offers all the essential ingredients to guarantee an event that will exceed expectations. The country is known for its tulips, windmills and polder landscapes, and it is also recognized as one of the best-surveyed areas in the world. Every square metre has been mapped, registered and documented. Being a small-sized, densely populated country, partly below sea level, and the second-largest exporter of agricultural goods in the world, the management of land and water is crucial in its society.

Mapping and surveying are fundamental activities that support the management of land and water. With almost 200 years of experience in mapping and over 100 years of land consolidation, the Netherlands offers an inspiring environment for the FIG C7/C2 Annual Meeting. Not only do the rural and urban environments showcase the important role of this profession, but the institutional and professional context is also renowned for its high-level standards.

Ensuring the worldwide relevance of cadastres

Participation in the 2023 FIG C7/C2 Annual Meeting holds great significance, especially after the inspiring Kick-Off C7/C2 '2023-26' Working Group sessions at the 2023 FIG Working Week in Orlando, USA. The meeting promises to be packed with discussions, debates and directions, as the participants continue to renew, reimagine and recommit to ensuring the relevance of cadastres and land management globally.

The meeting will focus on key topics, including Fit-for-Purpose Land Administration (FFPLA), Women's Access to Land (and Administration), the UN's Framework for Effective Land Administration (FELA), Advances in Artificial Intelligence and Remote Sensing (AI&RS4LA), 3D Land Administration (3DLA), the Land Administration Domain Model - ISO 19152 (LADM), Cybersecurity, Cadastral Data Quality, and Open Data, as well as Education in Land Administration, which will include a special half-day workshop on Teaching Essentials in Responsible Land Administration (TERLA).

Therefore, whether you are an official FIG C7/C2 delegate of a Member Association, a participant in the FIG C7/C2 Working Groups, a technical, legal, social or economic expert in the land sector, or you simply have a keen interest in getting involved with developments in cadastres and land management globally, make sure to attend the meeting.
