Leica Releases Enhancements to MobileMatriX

Leica Geosystems (Switzerland) has releases a new GPS RTK Processing option for Leica MobileMatriX and a new Edition of Leica MobileMatriX Edition as extension to existing ArcGIS 9 Desktop installations.

Leica Geosystems has releases a new option to its Leica MobileMatriX software, which combines a TabletPC wirelessly with the Leica SmartAntenna ATX1230 to create a truly powerful and compact solution. When not on a SmartStation, the SmartAntenna ATX1230 is together with MobileMatriX a stand-alone rover. All the processing of GPS raw measurements is done in Leica MobileMatriX; no receiver (GX1230) is required. The combination of MobileMatriX and the SmartAntenna ATX1230 is a GPS rover with RTK capability with the precision and accuracy of Leica Geosystems’ high-end GPS System 1200 (L1 and L2). It is a totally cable free (Bluetooth) solution, which allows the user to collect and update GIS data directly in the field using the power of Leica MobileMatriX. The RTK Processing option integrates 3 main components: Surveying sensors (GPS), (Rugged) TabletPC and GIS software.

Furthermore, Leica has announced the new Leica MobileMatriX on ArcGIS Edition. MobileMatriX on ArcGIS Edition is an ArcGIS Extension running on any installed ArcGIS Desktop 9 product (ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo). The main difference to MobileMatriX Standard and Professional Edition is a complete GIS functionality of underlying ArcGIS Desktop. The new released version enables the users to use their existing ArcGIS licenses, and to simply buy MobileMatriX as Add-on to their existing systems. Additionally, MobileMatriX on ArcGIS Edition enables ESRI development partners to combine their products together with MobileMatriX in an integrated way. The ArcGIS Leica MobileMatriX extension enables ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo users to use their GIS for mobile data collection and maintenance tasks with connected surveying sensors.
