Third Latin American Dealer Conference for SOUTH

From 26-28 May, the SOUTH Group successfully held its 2014 Latin American dealer conference in Bogotá, Colombia. Following on from the previous two conferences held in Peru (in 2010 and 2012), this was the Chinese company’s third event for all its partners in that region. It was attended by more than 50 guests who came from 19 companies in 15 different countries.

On the morning of 26 May, the conference started with the welcome speech by the host local dealers Felix Pinto and Edgar Mendoza. After that, Han Yao, general manger of SOUTH’s International Business Division, delivered a speech on the latest developments within the company. The winners of Dealer Excellence, Luis Moreno from Mexico and Edgar Mendoza from Colombia, were invited to share their experiences of promoting SOUTH RTK and GIS data collectors.

During the new product release section, GNSS manager Henry Lee and brand manager Andy Lau introduced several SOUTH new GNSS and optical products in detail, including 500m and 1000m reflectorless total stations, a new Windows total station and a robotic total station.

On 27 and 28 May, various technical training sessions were held in response to dealers’ questions, including total station repair, GNSS operation and an introduction to the data-collecting software Field Genius (by Jose Ramirez from MicroSurvey).

After the conference, a typical Colombian Chivas bus tour was arranged to take the participants to see some of Colombia’s most famous highlights – Catedral de Sal and Mountain Monserrate.

On 30 May, SOUTH and local dealer Geosystem paid a visit to one of the most important customers in Bogotá: the Institute Geographic Agustin Codazzi. This government institute has purchased several RTK S82V and handheld GPS S760 devices from SOUTH. The customer expressed their satisfaction with SOUTH products and took the opportunity to discuss some technical issues with SOUTH engineers. Before leaving, they were invited to visit the National Geography and Cartography Museum which is housed in the Institute.
