A New Innovation by Horizon

At Intergeo 2011, after a period of intensive R&D and refinement activities in Singapore, Horizon will be unveiling an innovation that is expected to quickly gain popularity in the industry. The project is the brainchild of the company’s managing director Mr Tang Hui Jen who is listed as an inventor of the product under patent legislation, which was filed on 29th August 2011 and received the patent pending number 201106241-1.

EZHeight by Horizon is an integrated height measuring system installed in its total stations. The user can now dispense with measuring tapes, levelling staves and other methods of height measurement, which have so far always been necessary before any job could be commenced and undertaken using an electronic total station. The new system will allow users to measure the instrument height with an integrated device, and store the height measurement automatically in the instrument in a convenient and seamless process. The instrument height measurement has been demonstrated to take mere seconds to be completed and stored, using no external devices, resulting in a fast, accurate (5mm accuracy over 2m) and convenient method.

Mr Tang H.J., managing director of Horizon, commented, "We want to show that we are not a passive brand, but one which embraces innovation and concepts promoting continual efficiency, productivity, and better ways of doing things. This is the first of several projects on our list, so you can expect more from Horizon soon."

While Horizon expects to commercialise its innovation over the next year or so, it is currently considering its options. Several entities have already expressed an interest in co-operation agreements for the EZHeight system although nothing had been confirmed at the time of going to press. Horizon will be present at Intergeo to demonstrate its latest innovation and to discuss opportunities with interested parties.
