Bentley Announces Publication of Rendering With MicroStation

Bentley Systems, Incorporated (PA, USA) has announced the availability of Rendering With MicroStation, written by Jerry Flynn, the MicroStation visualisation expert, and published by the Bentley Institute Press. The book is a product of Flynn’s years of experience helping hundreds of firms and thousands of AEC professionals bring designs to life through photorealistic rendering directly within the design application.

This latest addition to the Bentley Institute’s line of architecture, engineering, and construction publications serves the rendering needs of architects, civil engineers, and designers. Based on the Bentley Institute course of the same name, it covers every aspect of rendering in detail, including cameras, materials, lighting, environment maps, and rendering settings.

Through illustrations and hands-on exercises, readers will learn how to:

 • use environment maps, sky cylinders, and procedural textures effectively, and to apply photorealistic atmospheric effects
 • create photorealistic materials such as water, glass, trees, grass, brick, and stone
 • apply different lighting techniques for rendering any interior or exterior scene, day or night, including sunset and twilight setups
 • achieve photorealistic results by creating custom materials
 • apply advanced rendering techniques for creating lighting solutions using ray tracing and particle tracing.

Also included are a host of tips on generating quality still images, network rendering, panoramas, 3D content in PDF files, and much more.
