DA42 V1 Breaks 200-knots Barrier

Displaying 21 aerodynamical improvements, the newly developed DA42 V1 marks another milestone in the history of Diamond Aircraft Austria. The top speed of the aircraft is over 200 knots in FL180 (18,000ft), and the DA42 is often used for remote-sensing survey flights.

Powered by 340hp from two Austro Engines AE300 and with a normal operational weight, the take-off roll (no wind) is less than 1,000ft. The climb rate is 1,900ft at sea level and 900ft on FL180 at a climb speed of 120 knots indicated. These results are based on preliminary information of the first test flights.
