GITA 2009 Speaker Awards

GITA has announced the 2009 Speaker Award winners from its recent Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference in Tampa (FL, USA). The award recognises the top five percent of session speakers, each of whom were rated by session participants in the areas of quality of presentation, content of session, visual aids, and relevance of topic.  

 

Recognised as a leading educational association dedicated to geospatial information, GITA has developed a reputation for bringing together industry leaders to present papers, take part in panel discussions, and participate in seminars at the association's flagship conference. Using their industry knowledge in addition to effective presentation skills, these speakers share their experience with GIS professionals.

 

The recipients of the 2009 GITA Speaker Award include:

  • Bill Meehan, ESRI; Paper:  The Smart Grid Cannot be Smart Without GIS

  • Talbot Brooks, Delta State University; Paper:  Geospatial Technologies and the Emergency Operations Center

  • Don Oliver, City of Wilson; Paper:  Providing Spatial Technology to Emergency Responders - At What Cost?

  • Andrew Zetlan, Oracle Corporation; Paper:  Evolving Markets and Their Business Process Solutions

  • Cynthia Salas, CenterPoint Energy; Paper: From Dark to Light - Service Restoration After Hurricane Ike

  • Geoff Zeiss, Autodesk; Paper: Convergence of CAD, BIM, GIS, and 3-D: Implications for Utilities

  • Talbot Brooks, Delta State University; Paper: Geospatially Preparing and Responding when Natural Disasters Strike

 

For the GITA 2010 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference to be held from 25th to 29th April 2010, in Phoenix (AR, USA) you can submit your abstract online. The deadline is 31st August 2009.
