Keynote Speakers for SPAR 2009

Spar Point Research announced keynote presenters for its sixth annual conference, SPAR 2009, to be held from 30th March to 1st April 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Denver in Colorado. The SPAR 2009 technical conference brings the project interests of 3D positioning and imaging professionals together to learn about advances in 3D imaging for design, construction and infrastructure.  

 

Hans Hess, president, Hanesco AG, and former Leica Geosystems CEO, will present "Geomatics on the Move." Charles Matta, director of Federal Buildings and Modernization, General Services Administration (GSA), will answer the question "Why 3D Scanning?" in a session that details the GSA's Building Information Modeling (BIM) program. Daniel Livecchi of the U.S. Secret Service, and president, IAFSM, will discuss "Urban Modeling for National Special Security Events." John Copple, CEO, Sanborn, will present "Applications of 3D Imaging," including opportunities utilizing mobile scanning. Dr. Nelly Robles Garcia, director, Archaeological Zone, Monte Alban, will present "Strategic Planning for Digital Heritage Preservation."

 

Other highlights of SPAR 2009 include an inaugural 3D Laser Scanning Boot Camp for managers and newcomers to the industry; education credits for professional engineers, land surveyors and project managers; new point cloud processing applications from both new and established suppliers to speed up deliverable extraction; exhibition floor with more than 40 suppliers and six industry association partners; expanded mobile scanning and mapping track as well as tracks covering the applications of 3D scanning to BIM validation and integration; industrial plant environments; digital preservation of historic assets; nuclear facility construction and modification; new business opportunities, and a new service provider networking session; manufacturer-presented technical seminars on various concentrated topics related.
