New Releases of Leica FCMS and FPES

Leica Geosystems (Switzerland) has released new versions of its FCMS (Flight & Sensor Control Management System) and FPES (Flight Planning & Evaluation Software).

FPES is an office tool for flight planning and flight evaluation. FCMS performs all tasks, such as flight guidance, sensor release and sensor monitoring, on a single man-machine interface. FCMS provides automated operation minimising user interaction. The hardware and software components are optimised for operation with a great variety of airborne sensors.

Leica FPES release 9.1.5 supports flight planning on all common types of geographic and grid systems for all types of sensors. A Digital Terrain Model (DTM) is taken into account to compute area coverage. Examples of new features are:

-         Corridor mapping feature that splits a polyline automatically to ensure stereoscopic coverage of areas of any shape.

-         Enhanced multi-sensor planning.

-         Embedded AeroPlan for Leica ALS50 LIDAR sensors to determine mission operational settings.

Leica FCMS release 2.1 simplifies a flight plan controlled flight for the operator and pilot, guiding them through all survey flight phases. Knowing in-flight which lines are not yet flown and which lines need to be re-flown (for such reasons as clouds) is important. During flight execution, the operator and pilot can independently select various views. In-flight evaluation allows flight execution progress and quality control checking. Leica FCMS stores all data required for post-flight mission analysis. This flight data storage is essential for optimal management of aerial survey projects, including large projects flown with more than one aircraft.

Leica FCMS 2.1 provides:

-         Support for various airborne sensor types and multi-sensor systems.

-         Perfect integration of hardware and software into a single system.

-         Top-quality airborne components.
