SPAR Europe 2012 Busier than Ever

SPAR Point Group, USA, has announced that verified attendance at the SPAR Europe Conference on End-to-End 3D Mapping was 376 participants. This is a 35% increase on the 2011 attendance figure, which made the floor crowded according to Lisa Murray, director. The three-day conference featured 65 presenters, three keynote addresses, two plenary sessions and an exhibit floor full of solutions by leading software developers and hardware manufacturers. SPAR Europe took place from 12 to 14 November 2012 at the World Forum in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Participants came from 38 countries for a three-day immersion into the latest trends on 3D data capture and imaging technologies. The conference programme had five tracks: Industrial Facilities, Civil Transportation, Building & Architecture, New Technologies, Forensic & Security Planning, and Digital Cultural Preservation. Several sessions were standing room only. Among the most popular were sessions that compared and contrasted 3D data capture methods, Lidar vs. photogrammetry, indoor mobile mapping, BIM, new technologies and applications including augmented reality, handheld scanning, MS Kinect and more.

Next year’s SPAR Europe will take place 11-13 November 2013 at the Passenger Vessel Terminal in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
