Spot Asia : New Joint Venture between Spot Image and CRISP

CRISP (Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing) signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Spot Image, S.A. (France), to become a partner in Spot Asia, the regional Spot Image subsidiary located in Singapore. CRISP, the world class satellite image receiving and processing station, has worked closely with Spot Asia since 1995 when the station began receiving SPOT satellite transmissions. The new Spot Asia JV combines technical expertise with commercial operations to increase product and service offerings for Southeast Asian markets.

Spot Asia, under the directorship of Mr FOO Weng-Kee, will continue as the sales and marketing group, selling image-based solutions, either directly or working with resellers in 10 regional countries. Spot Asia is the largest and most successful remote sensing image distributor in SE Asia. In addition to SPOT, they distribute products from IKONOS, QuickBird, RADARSAT, ERS, KVR, Landsat, and now other satellite products created by CRISP as well.

Through the new JV, Spot Asia will continue to focus on solving regional challenges with remote sensing imagery. Examples include forest fire monitoring, oil palm tree inventories, oil spill detection and monitoring, large area mapping, border mapping and security and land use planning.
