TopoFlight Version 5.03 Available

New Tech Services (NC, USA) and Flotron (Switzerland) have released the version 5.03 of the flight planning tool, TopoFlight. Except for enhancement to simplify the use, the company also added an Excel sheet to further customise the output.

TopoFlight sets values i.e. number of flight lines, number of images, miles/km of flight lines, coordinates, etc. where the user prefers it. Coordinates of photo positions can be calculated automatically by using a digital terrain model. This prevents gaps between flight lines and overproduction of photos for overlap.

Other enhancements include:

  • support of TrackAir flight management system
  • importing flight lines from TrackAir
  • importing flight lines from external text files
  • drawing and editing outlines of a project's area
  • automatic creating flight lines over a selected outline
  • automatic cutting/stepping lines when out of image scale limit
  • better integration of US-map sources
  • selecting or creating areas for automatic line construction
  • line stepping
  • using of USGS DEM and other DEMs instead of QuadTree import
  • more options to calculate flying height
  • more options to calculate length overlap
  • enhanced text export
  • project summary
  • many small enhancements in the user interface.

TopoFlight interacts with Excel, Graphics and GIS software through standard file formats (TIFF, SHAPE, DGN, DXF, TEXT) and supports and communicates with flight management systems like ASCOT, CCNS, Track’Air etc. The surveyor will also benefit from TopoFlight by downloading the info into the GPS unit. The software is available in English and Spanish.
