Vexcel Holdings Takes over Microsoft’s UltraCam Business Unit

Vexcel Imaging GmbH, Microsoft’s UltraCam business unit, is undergoing an ownership change planned for early March 2016. After ten years of contributing to Microsoft as a subsidiary, Vexcel Imaging will once again become an independent company upon its expected acquisition by a private investment group.

The new owner will be Vexcel Holdings GmbH in the city of Graz, Austria, with the following shareholders:

• Erik Jorgensen, former Microsoft corporate vice president of Bing and MSN, and will lead Vexcel Holdings GmbH
• Stephen Lawler, former CTO of Bing maps
• Alexander Wiechert, CEO of Vexcel Imaging GmbH and running the UltraCam business
• Martin Ponticelli, development manager of the UltraCam Business Unit

Both Erik Jorgensen and Stephen Lawler bring a deep expertise in and passion for this business, having previously overseen this business. Jorgensen stated he is looking forward to working with this excellent team of highly qualified technicians and engineers again. He believes that the company’s innovative culture will ensure the current market leadership position and the growth of the company in the future.

Alexander Wiechert said he thinks this is a great outcome for the business, its customers and its products. Vexcel Imaging remains committed to offering the most advanced photogrammetric products and solutions on the market, continuing and extending the UltraCam product line, and maintaining the exceptional personal service for which the company is known. All Vexcel Imaging employees have been offered a new contract to ensure continuity and momentum.
