New Distributor for RapidEye

RapidEye has appointed GAF AG to be its data distributor in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. GAF is to use RapidEye's technology to the benefit of our agriculture, forestry, security, and environmental services. RapidEye Nearly Open for Business

RapidEye's satellite system has successfully completed all post-launch testing and calibration activities, and is now ready to take on commercial operations. The satellite constellation was successfully launched in August 2008. Topcon Wins Huge Tender Romania

The Romanian Agency of Payments and Interventions in Agriculture ( APIA ) has acquired 530 units of Topcon Europe Positioning's GMS-2 units from the Topcon Czech exclusive distributor GEODIS BRNO and its Romanian daughter company GEODIS RO. This makes it the largest sale of Topcon's hand held mobile GPS-receiver, not only in Romania, but also Europe-wide. Beijing UniStrong Takes Over Hemisphere GPS Non-agricultural Division

Hemisphere GPS has signed and closed a definitive agreement to sell the business assets associated with its non-agricultural operations to the Canadian subsidiary of Beijing UniStrong, the Chinese manufacturer of GNSS solutions. The takeover involves a sum of USD15 million. Hemisphere GPS will continue under a new name: AgJuction. Beijing UniStrong also has taken over the name Hemisphere GPS, and has the intention to rename it to Hemisphere GNSS. GIS-Ready Countrywide Land Cover Maps

Intermap Technologies Corp. (CO, USA and Definiens AG (Germany) have announced at Intergeo that they have signed an agreement to develop a land cover vector layer product called EARThemes, covering all of Germany and the United Kingdom. EARThemes combines radar imagery, digital surface models, and IFSAR data and through an automatic analysis engine creates uniquely accurate land cover datasets. MrSID Generation 3 Format Named Standard

LizardTech (WA, USA) has announced that the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has named MrSID Generation 3 image Format as the standard to be used for all 2005 Compressed County Mosaics (CCM). Last year, the USDA Aerial Photography Field Office (APFO) issued a baseline contract for aerial imagery as part of the National Agriculture Imagery Program. One of the deliverables in the Program was a Compressed County Mosaic, which was required in MrSID Generation 2 Format.
